Farmer Nation Holds its Breath ...
Buckeye junior WR drops a few clues to draft decision… College underclassmen on the bubble still have three weeks to make up their minds as to whether to apply for entry to the 2006 draft, but Ohio State junior Santonio Holmes, who is reportedly exploring his options, says he wants to be drafted near the top of the first round and has indicated that he might stay I school if he isn’t going to be selected until the latter part of the first round. Holmes does have a chance to be the first WR selected this year if he does enter the draft, but in a weak yaer at the position could indeed last past the 20th pick. Holmes is one of at least three Ohio State juniors – the others are CB Ashton Youboty and safety Donte Whitner – to have asked the NFL’s special advisory panel what are their respective draft prospects. As with most other top underclassmen considering entering this year’s draft, the three Buckeye juniors won’t make a formal announcement about their intentions until after Ohio State’s Fiesta Bowl date with Notre Dame.
