Nine Months of ...

Hey Andy, it is a long nine months but here’s a start.

Print out the rosters

Cross out the Seniors.

Note the probable and possible keepers. You can do this in a variety of ways. One issue is what to do with the Juniors that might turn pro. Do you ignore a guy like Lawrence Maroney and assume another keeper or assume he is a keeper until he actually declares for the draft (I prefer the latter). Another issue has to do with some of the “potential” guys, say Morelli. He might be a keeper by the time we get to next season but he might not (remember Terrell Jordan last season?). I look at the teams and ask myself who would the owner keep if the cut down date was today? I mark those players and then I ask myself who else might be protected and mark those players.

I mark all Juniors that might turn pro to keep an eye on them.

You are now in position to begin obsessing about the 2006 season. Watch the news, recruiting, police blotter, academics, and injury reports. Make changes as required.
