Week 8

Bucky Beatwriter

In what is the most competitive and exciting BTFFL season yet, the Goodgers look to keep their grip on first place in the league this week against the rival Golden Goblins. Although the Goodgers sit atop the BTFFL standings, a return trip to the Blue Ox Bowl is certainly not assured and every BTFFL team has a legitimate shot at the BOB no matter what happens this week. Of course, with their 5-2 record, the Goodgers have the inside track on an unprecedented fourth consecutive BOB appearance but nothing is guaranteed with 3 teams tied in second place with 3-4 records. Certainly a win for Bucky and the fighting Goodgers would go a long way towards the BOB. A loss, however, would put the entire BOB up in the air.

The Goodgers are excited about the return to the line up of two critical players that have been out of action for the past two weeks: Drew Stanton and Albert Young.

Goodgers line up:

QB Drew Stanton
QB Curtis Painter
RB Mike Hart
RB Albert Young
WR Dorien Bryant
WR Steve Breaston
WR Kerry Reed
K Taylor Melhoff

The poorly managed Goblins somehow have stumbled their way into a tie for second place. But I suspect its all downhill from here. Stanton against NW and hart against Iowa -ouch! It's time to shake things up and roll the dice like my idol Glen Mason would in such a situation. So here is my line-up honoring the only coach in college football history who can keep a job for 10 years while compiling a conference win-loss record 20 games below .500. Now that is genius. Here is my Glen Mason starting line-up

Smith
Stocco
Pinnix
Sutton
Butler
Gonzalez
Spaeth
Rivas
