Working on something here ...
I wanted to go back 5 years, but my memory isnt that good, so i had to use what's recorded on the website....3 years.
QB (# of good seasons)
1. Drew Stanton (3) Easily the top QB over the last 3 years. Was a contributor every season, huge 2005.
2. Troy Smith (2) Two great seasons, would be #1 with even a partial 2004.
3. Brett Basanez (2) Massive season in 2005, good 2004.
4. Michael Robinson (1) Huge in 2005.
5. Curtis Painter (1) #1 QB in 2006.
Henne, Tate and Stocco were all three year starters over the course of these seasons but all three were essentially mediocre fantasy players over the course of those years. I took one great season over 3 mediocre ones. Kyle Orton just misses the cut with big 2004 – not quite as good as Painter’s last year, I think. Kellen Lewis and Juice Williams’ single season last year were both good but not great. Both look to be real forces over the course of the next three years.
RB (# of good seasons)
1. Mike Hart (2.5) Big 2004, 2006, inj 2005 although produced when played.
2. Brian Calhoun (1) Best Season Ever!
3. Anthony Davis (1) Almost as good as Calhoun in 2004.
4. Tyrell Sutton (2) Huge in 2005, okay in 2006.
5. Lawrence Maroney (2) I can see his helmet tonight.
A couple of others with one big year in the three year time span, PJ Hill, Noah Herron and MB3. Hill appears poised to move onto this list. Tony Pittman and Tony Hunt also close, very good in 2006, okay in 2005.
WR (# of good seasons)
1. Braylon Edwards (1) I think the best WR BTFFL season ever.
2. Dorien Bryant (2.5) Led league last 2 years.
3. James Hardy (2)
4. Santonio Holmes (2)
5. Taylor Stubblefield (1)
This one is hard, especially since the 2004 records are the worst. A bunch of one year very good players including Avant, Ginn, Butler, Manningham, Payne, Courtney Roby. I am least happy with this list.
I'll stick with your kickers except perhaps Dave Rayner should be in there.
i just don't agree that Drew Stanton should be ahead of Troy Smith......Stanton sucked royal ass his last season, although the previous 2 were great!
Painter and Orton too low.
I think Barber belongs in that top group. He was very solid his entire career.
Receivers are tougher. There's just too many one year wonders.
Stanton had 180 points last year (Smith 231). Not a great season but certainly not in the sucked royal ass group. He had 262 points in 2005 (Smith 245). I don't know the exact numbers but he had at least 140 in 2004. That's at least 580 points over three years.
BB 2005 285 pts
MRob 2005 272 pts
Painter 2006 244 pts
Orton 2004 169 pts (I think, it's 2004)
Actually I initially had Orton at 5 but looked a little closer at the numbers and was surprised at Orton's numbers. He had a terrible last half of the season as a Senior, starting, I believe, with his last minute fumble against the Badgers!
Barber maybe but its the 3 year thing -- Barber only played in 2004. I don't think he had the monster season that those Badger backs did.
