Scores are Up

-Goodgers have all but sewn up the regular season and Blue Ox Bowl championships for a 3rd straight year.

-Farmers annual collapse seems imminent.

-Goblins climb back into race for 2nd place and a spot in the Blue Ox Bowl...which they will almost certainly lose for the 3rd year in a row.

-Spitfires fall again to 0-8. There's talk in Halifax of folding the team, as prospects for next season are looking bleak yet again.

I wish the Goodgers had something locked up but its wide open. Gooders or Farmers will be one of the BOB participants ... the other could lose out to a surging Goblins. The Spitfires could end up determining who makes it and who doesn't. If any team loses to them, they almost certainly end up in the Gopher Bowl.

Its a long way away but Morelli, Pittman, Hunt and Williams are all decent keepers.

Morelli will be about the 6th or 7th best QB next year-not worth keeping, but i'll probably have to draft him back b/c there's no one else.

Pittman NEVER scores a TD on a team dominated by Troy Smith and Santonio Holmes-not worth keeping, but i'll probably have to draft him back b/c there's no one else.

Hunt NEVER scores TD's on a team dominated by its recievers next year-not worth keeping, but i'll probably have to draft him back b/c there's no one else.

And Williams...well same thing.

All this means I'll have the same team as this year that CANNOT compete with Troy Smith, Drew Stanton, Mike Hart, Brian Calhoun, Gary Russell, Albert Young, James Hardy, Mario Manningham, Dorien Bryant, Tyrell Sutton, etc. All those players are better than enybody I'll be able to draft next year. NOT GOOD.

As far as the Goodgers go, i'm willing to bet any amount of money that you'll win both the regular season and Blue Ox Bowl. Although I think the farmers will hold off the Goblins to get into the BOB, they can't win it w/o Calhoun in the lineup.

The Spitfires WILL NOT beat anybody this year, so thats no threat.

Don't get me wrong Andy -- if your keepers were the best you wouldn't be winless and the lowest scoring team in the League. But all you have to do is look at last seasons draft -- Brett Basanez, Michael Robinson, Jason Avant, Albert Young, Tyrell Sutton and Derrick Williams were all not kept and not the sought after players in the draft. BB was picked after 10 others players and the rest after BB. There's no reason to think that similar things won't occur next year.

My keepers this season, which looked pretty strong at the draft, have been weak. Mike Hart -- injured, Dorian Bryant -- pretty good, Drew Stanton -- very good, Steve Breaston -- sucks. I'm not winning because of my keepers.

Well, a closer look at the Blue Ox run ...

Next week the FF play BG. One of those teams will get a loss. If the GG win, they will be just one game behind either the Goodgers or the Farmers. They play the Goodgers in week 10 and the Farmers in week 11. The Blue Ox Bowl will be there for the taking for the Goblins.

I agree that the Farmers won't win the Blue Ox Bowl without Calhoun -- no matter who they play.

Not so fast my friend. I don't plan on bowing out quite so easily. I've got just enough firepower to stay in the race until the Blue Ox Bowl. Now with Calhoun I might struggle to put up the big points, but w/ some good WR and QB play, I just might pull it off.

That's the kind of spirit I'd expect from a team called the Fighting Farmers! I don't know what the hell I'd expect out of a team called Bucky's Goodgers -- is it some kind of hard candy? Anyway, I certainly wouldn't advocate that the Farmers concede the Ox merely because thier superstar won't be playing but one has to admit that the Farmers without Calhoun will be the underdog in the BOB, if they make it.
